    RMTT Goes Virtual

    by Brandon @ 12:00 am on May 28, 2007

Rocky Mountain Tech Team has taken all of its servers virtual. What does this mean? We had 3 different servers, some of which were running on some pretty old hardware. Using VMware we converted all servers to virtual servers. This means that each server, with all setting and files, is contained in 1 folder with just a few (large) files in it. This gave us the flexibility to drag and drop each server the new (best) hardware. Now all 3 servers run on one piece of hardware. We found that the new hardware was not being fully utilized with just one server running, now it runs 3 servers and we are getting more from our hardware investment. Ask RMTT if virtualization is right for you.
